Sony GT5 Paraded On FED Display
11.20.08

You might think that you’ve seen it all with Gran Turismo 5 being played in full HD glory on your Sony Bravia HDTV, but your perception will definitely change if you’ve seen the same game in action running on a Nano-Spindt FED/Field Emissions Display developed by Sony, boasting a superior frame rate of 240fps. This is by far much higher than Gran Turismo 5 Prologue’s frame rate of 60p (progressive), as the demonstration managed to hit four times the amount. The 19″ nano-Spindt FED screen on display features more than 10,000 electron sources known as the nano-spindt emitter, per pixcel. Each time a fluorescent substance is exposed to the electrons from the emitters, light is produced - pretty much similar to how the principle in a cathode-ray tube works. The end result, however is stunning as you feel as though you’re in a real world event.
