09.22.08
Just in time for the Photokina event happening tomorrow in Germany, Pentax has announced its new entry-level DSLR camera - the K2000 otherwise known as the K-m for the European market. Targeting digital camera users who are about to take the leap into Digital SLRs, the Pentax K2000 comes in the form of an ultra-compact DSLR. So as not to annoy first time DSLR users and to make their transition as pleasant as possible, Pentax has put in Auto Picture modes that include Portrait, Landscape, Macro, Action and Night Portrait.
In addition, the Pentax K2000 also features “Shake Reduction” technology which is compatible with various Pentax lenses which should enable users to take quality pictures even when using the camera at slow shutter speeds without a tripod. The K2000 also boasts a Dust Removal system and a dedicated programmable help button which should show first time users the basics about DSLR photography.
Other notable features of the Pentax K2000 include; a 10.2 megapixel CCD, a 2.7-inch wide-view LCD panel with 230,000 dot high resolution, and a compact design that enables users to hold the camera even single-handedly.
The Pentax K2000 DSLR will start shipping by November 2008 for an SRP of $699.95. For that price, you will also get a Pentax DA L 18-55 f/3.5-5.6 AL lens and a Pentax AF200FG flash alongside your new camera.
