Nikon COOLPIX P6000: 13.5MP, GPS & internet access

Nikon have taken the wraps off of their latest digital camera, the .  Bearing a 13.5-megapixel CCD, the seriously-dressed P6000 also hides a GPS receiver in its casing, to geotag photos.  There’s also a 4x Zoom-NIKKOR lens and a wired LAN connection that allows you to upload images directly to an internet file store or gallery.

Images can be stored as RAW files for greater manual editing flexibility, and the P6000 can shoot at up to ISO 6400 for low-light or fast-moving subjects.  There’s an accessory shoe for adding bigger flash units and other devices, and Nikon’s new 0.76x Wide-angle Converter WC-E76 offers the option to use focal lengths up to 21mm (35mm format equivalent). 

48MB of internal memory is augmented with a SDHC slot, and you’ll get approximately 260 shots with the included EN-EL5 battery.  The P6000 weighs approximately 240g (8.5oz.) without the battery and SD card.  It’ll be available in Japan in September, price as yet unknown.
